This appeared on www.whitfieldcrane.com, Its a breif excerp of a conversation between Paul Browne and Whit:
Hey. I spoke with the man - Whit. Firstly I couldn't transcribe the nuts he said, cos we were on mobile phones [cell] so I jotted down some of the chat he said would be cool to tell you guys:
On Medication: "Things start out beautifully, like you're 20 years old again and then they're going good, but it ends horribly.."
On Why he didn't speak with Q magazine: "Because I didn't see the point, if there is nothing new, no new music to speak to a publication about..then what is the point...when I have something new to talk about, then that is the time to talk about it".
On a possible Ugly Kid Joe DVD release:
"It'd be great..go do it - cool, but I have no footage"..
On his next move in the music scene / band: "You know there's nothing going on really, yeh I'm ready at anytime to go on and do something but I don't have a band...you find me the greatest rock n roll band an I'll sing with them.."
He also mentioned he's been living away so long, it's great just to get to know his family again and he's really enjoying that. You gotta remember I wrote this down so if there's a word or two I got wrong then bite me, the main gist of it is there..
Paul later posted on the net that:
Well there was a lot of nuts we spoke about, when I mentioned the name Jon Hudson and what happened, he went quiet and changed the subject.
Whit's projectless.
I asked him about how he gets on these tribute albums and he said, he never knows, he just gets a phone call...
He does get offered a lot of nuts a lot of the time but I suspect, if it's not something that isn't brand fire new, with a band who want to establish themselves from ground zero and up, Whit isn't interested.
